Mustard Tree - Outreach Meet & Greet

Opportunity image

The Mustard Tree Macmillan Support Centre is located on the Derriford Hospital site, as well as the outreach clinic. The centre supports people who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis - this may be the patient, carer, family member or friend. The centre provides support services such as benefits advice, counselling, complementary therapies, 1:1 support, buddying support, Look Good Feel Better sessions, wig/headwear fittings and clinical workshops.

Prior to Covid we ran 3 outreach centres, formally known as the “Triangle centres”. These were essentially smaller versions of the Mustard Tree, offering a condensed service with chemotherapy once a week, based within the community hospitals in Kingsbridge, Tavistock and Liskeard.

We are no longer able to offer these services in the same way, however we would like to trial a new version, offering information, low-level specialist support, and peer support in community venues. This will be delivered once a week at the location and on the days detailed below:

  • Ivybridge - alternate Wednesday mornings

  • Kingsbridge - alternate Wednesday afternoons

  • Tavistock - alternate Friday mornings

  • Liskeard - alternate Friday afternoons

When applying, please specify your preferred location to volunteer.
